She was a wonderful ambassador for Australia during her years performing internationally and has generously shared her knowledge, passion and experience with generations of young dancers. She danced with Ballet Rambert, London Festival Ballet, The Royal Ballet and The Australian Ballet. Her most celebrated partnership was with Rudolf Nureyev in his filmed production of Don Quixote for The Australian Ballet in 1972.
In her post-performance career Lucette has become a highly respected and much-loved teacher, particularly at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters by Edith Cowan University in 2000, and an Australian Dance Award for Services to Dance in 2001. In 2004 Lucette and her husband Alan Alder received the Western Australian Living Treasures Award for their contribution to ballet. Lucette is a truly international Australian ballerina, widely recognised for her artistry and flawless technique.
